All 47 members of the treaty sincerely agree that all tourists should not be able to take flash photos, feed or come close to touching the animals. To help determine that this rule is not broken tourist have to stay at least fifteen or twenty meters away from any species of animals. This rule is also to stop tourists/scientists from capturing any sorts of animals. Anyone who breaks this rule will have to donate a given amount of money to help animal research.

 

Tourism

All 47 members of the Antarctic Treaty certainly agree that, a restriction of cruise ships only allowing a maximum of two ships per country during the summer time. By doing this, it will definitely reduce the amount of bilge dischargers and oil slicks which is causing severe damage to the flora and fauna. If anyone breaks this rule they will receive an extensive fine.

 

Permanent Settlement

All 47 members of the Antarctic Treaty absolutely agree that, permanent settlement should definitely be prohibited in Antarctica as it would prevent this blue continent from being the Last Frontier. It would be foolish to be deny that, if permanent settlement resembles in Antarctica it ought to be a disaster as the residents would be arguing  and demanding for everyday life essentials such as heating, lighting and food supplies. Another reason why Antarctica shouldn’t be inhabited by humans is because supermarkets, schools and other buildings would have to be constructed. It is obvious to say that there should be a limit which would determine that scientists are only allowed to stay in Antarctica for up to 7 months and tourists are allowed 2-4 weeks. It is commonly stated that any member nation that breaks this rule will receive a hefty fine and will be removed from the treaty.

 

 

Waste Disposal

All 47 members in the Antarctic Treaty totally concur, that all rubbish taken to this last frontier should be either taken back to their country of origin or completely incinerated in a high temperature incinerator and the ashes should be taken out of Antarctica. Also any sort of chemicals such as shower water and sewage must be treated before being pumped into the ocean. Due to this the risk of animals dying is reduce. The consequence for the people who break this rule is that their holiday will be cut short.

 

Military Activity

All 47 members in the Antarctic Treaty strongly agree that military activity should definitely be prohibited in Antarctica as it can result in disturbance of animals like penguins in their rookeries and scientists in their labs. It is regularly brought up in conferences that there should be weaponry in this wonderful unique continent such as guns and nuclear bombs which would harm the wildlife, mainly the penguins in their rookeries.
