 Pollution All nations agree that pollution should be forbidden from Antarctica as the animals and the environment could be harmed however if a country breaks that rule there will be consequences, such as they could be banned from making any decisions for the country for several years or months. .Mining The 44 countries in the treaty have thought mining shouldn’t be allowed as it would destroy this Antarctic environment because of all the digging and it could cause many unfixable problems such as it would affect all of the scientist who are at the stations, because if they keep digging all the time. It would put there exploration to a stop.  Animals All nations have come to a decision on how to keep animals safe with rules such as you are not to be closer then 100m to a whale and you are not allowed to touch any animals.   Tourism There have been many debates on whether tourism should be granted for people to come and visit Antarctica. However some people believe that it should be monitored carefully so that this pristine environment doesn’t get destroyed.  Permanent Settlement Antarctica only has explores and scientist there but they can only stay for a maximum of 3 years however nobody lives there permanently.  Waste Disposal All nations in the treaty have ensured that waste disposal will not be tolerated such as littering as it could really affect all of the marine life.  Military In Antarctica all nations agree that military use is essential to ensure that Antarctica remains secure from countries who may want to deliberately destroy all the marine life. |
