![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pollution All nations agree that they must not pollute Antarctica with air craft noise, litter or oil leaks. As a consequence of pollution, nations will be removed from the treaty for a period of time or permanently. Pollution is not allowed in Antarctica as it will kill animals and harm the pristine environment.
![]() Mining It is a unanimous decision that mining is definitely not permitted in this icy continent, as the land needs to remain in its natural state. Also, animals may be harmed by mining. Due to mining in Antarctica, nations may have to pay a large fine or be evicted from the treaty. The only type of mining allowed is scientific mining, E.g. Finding ice ages. ![]() ![]() Animals It has been declared that all animals (including marine life, birds, etc.) need to be kept safe in their natural habitat and not too close to humans. All nations agree that tourists have to stay a considerable amount away from Antarctica’s fauna. As a result of animal cruelty people will be removed from the treaty or given a fine. No new animals are allowed to be introduced to Antarctica for safety of natural animals. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tourism All signatories agree that tourism is allowed in Antarctica but needs to be strictly monitored. Consequences for taking advantage with tourism may include a fine of $50 000 (fifty thousand). Tourists need to be 200ft (two hundred feet) away from all wildlife. Therefore if the flora, fauna or environment is harmed as a result of tourism there will be consequences. ![]() Permanent Settlement All included nations agree that permanent settlement is definitely not allowed in this untouched land. There will be ramifications for anyone who settles in Antarctica permanently, including a fine or 7 (seven) year ban. Due to the weather, risk of ice melting and other reasons permanent settlement is banned. ![]() Waste Disposal Waste disposal is an extremely serious matter. All treaty signatories believe that no one can dispose rubbish in Antarctica no matter what the reason. $100 000 (one hundred thousand) fine will be paid or a 4-8 (four to eight) year banishment may be the result of people disposing waste. This could harm natural wildlife or the landscape. ![]() General Treaty Information Everyone agrees that the treaty needs to be followed. Whenever a member wants to verify the treaty all members must attend a meeting to change the rules. The Antarctic treaty is translated into different languages and kept in the USA. The International court of Justice will step in to sort out any disagreements between nations. There can be no territory claims for the duration of the treaty. The treaty has 44 (forty four) nations included. As a consequence of not following all rules in the treaty you may pay a $3 000 000 (three million) fine, be evicted from the treaty for 20 (twenty) years or not hear about anything that happens in Antarctica for up to 35 (thirty five) years. In Antarctica be aware that you might get frost bite, go delusional or not be able to handle the weather and get sick. ![]() ![]() |
